Magnificent pair of Empire candelabra by Pierre-Philippe Thomire
Very rare Pair of Empire Figural candelabra of exceptional artistic and craftsmanship quality, attributed to the renowned workshop of the French sculptor and bronzier Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1751–1843).
France, Paris, circa 1810, an opulent model of bronze figural six-light candelabra, very fine castings with precise and refined chasing, fire-gilt bronze, partially decorated with brown patination, the bodies of the candelabra are formed as figures of winged women holding aloft in a raised hand a support for the candles, the figures stand on spherical bases, cylindrical socles adorned with relief portraits and applied ornament, square base, height 90 cm.
Provenance: Important aristocratic collection.
